Flickr Back in 2005, I signed up for an account on Flickr. I wanted to be able to share albums of photos with friends and family, and Flickr did that incredibly well. https://danielhedrick.smugmug.com/Personal-Galleries/Oregon/n-FfWd2Q/i-q4XM3wJ/A Very first photo uploaded to Flickr Eventually, I started making photos public, and discovered the Flickr community. I’ve had exactly one photo … Continue reading Flickr, SmugMug, and WordPress
I've always been a fan of constant lighting. Now that we can get LED light panels with adjustable color temperatures, I like it even more. I've been looking for some inexpensive LED panels for awhile, and of course Neewer came through. If you've never owned Neewer equipment, it's worth taking a look at. They're "good … Continue reading Neewer LED Lights
This Portland trip has been busier than most, but Kayla and I managed to carve out a couple hours for a quick shoot. It was a gorgeous day in Portland, so the window light was perfect. There's something to be said for working with the same models for years. We are able to spend less … Continue reading Kayla – September 2019
There’s a great little brewery down under the St. John’s bridge called Occidental. Across the courtyard from it is an awesome wursthaus by the name of Urban German. They put on a perfectly-sized Octoberfest. There are just enough people to make it a party without being so packed you can’t walk around.
Great Falls can sometimes feel a little… behind. Culturally. Don’t get me wrong—I love this town, but it needs a little something. We’re starting to get some awesome local restaurants, and this past weekend, I watched several artists paint amazing murals on buildings downtown. My buddy owns Speaking Socially, so I spent most of my time … Continue reading Arts Fest Montana 2019
I’ve been working on the yard quite a bit lately, so I keep a camera handy just in case. There’s nothing exotic out there, but it’s a great way to spend an evening.
I put the bird in the air tonight, hoping to catch an epic sunset. Sadly, the sunset fizzled out with barely any color. I still got a great aerial view of Ulm, MT. I really like the top down shot of the gas station. Now that the weather is better, expect more aerial shots…
After a brutal February and a chilly spring, summer weather is finally starting to show up. I spent about an hour in the back yard with a beer and the big lens trying to capture all the birds. Of course, they were all over the fence before I brought the camera out. But once the … Continue reading Almost Summer in the Backyard
We had talked about doing a shoot almost two years ago, but hadn't actually had the opportunity until recently. Lisa is an awesome person with no modeling experience, but she still made my job easy. We wandered around the Ulm area, then headed up to the First Peoples' Buffalo Jump. It was great to finally … Continue reading Quick Shoot with Lisa
Kayla had some ideas for a towel shot, so we figured we'd make a whole boudoir shoot out of it. It's been awhile since I've done a shoot like this, but we figured it out. Kayla rocked it, as always, and we ended up with some great images. The window light was great, but we … Continue reading Boudoir with Kayla
